Each year the SHS contributes income from its Marion Antiques Show to a project which benefits the Town of Marion and its citizens. 2006 - Marion Tree Committee Route 6 Project Steve Gonsalves and Margie Baldwin (Click Here for more info) 2005 - Island Wharf Project information Island Wharf Project Slide Show 2004 - Development of SHPS website by Betsy Fallon 2003 - Pavement and landscaping of the General Store parking lot "Historical Society paves the way" a Sentinel article by Michelle McGlone MARION - Take a stroll through the village and it won't take long to see the fruits of the Sippican Historical Society's labors. Where once overgrown weeds took over the plot of land behind the society's building, it is now home to an exquisite Memorial Garden. When the threat surfaced on the post office being moved out of the village, the society sprang to action and not only purchased the building, but completely restored it to complement its surroundings. When the old pharmacy building went on the market, the society bought that building which included a portion of the village's main parking lot. Now there's a thriving business therein a totally restored building. The society's most recent undertaking has been redoing the parking lot. What was once an adequate parking lot is shaping into an extraordinary addition to the village, a parking lot complete with granite curbing, antique style lamp posts, an underground sprinkler system, and lovely flowers, shrubs and trees. Preserving Marion's historical character is the mission of the Sippican Historical Society. How do they do it? By putting on an antiques show, now in its 9th season, that raises money needed for their projects. 2001 & 2002 - Renovation of SHPS top floor for archival storage and preservation 1998 - Pharmacy Building purchase and renovation 1997 - Landscaping of the Memorial Garden by Charles DuPont.
